LMI is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to support an FDA client modernize and develop their trainings. The trainer will develop, validate, and update training plans and materials, answer training inquiries, and provide clear summary responses as needed to users and government leadership. Responsibilities
Develop training materials and technical documentation (e.g., users guides, enterprise help, training plans, training aids, handouts).
Verify and recommend changes and updates to training materials and technical documentation.
Coordinate with subject matter experts and content owners throughout the development cycle to ensure training program meets business needs.
Support the transition of in-person training to virtual learning content and work with service delivery teams to develop training for new capabilities.
Coordinate administration and logistics of training courses.
Provide management with regular and ad-hoc reporting on training courses, materials, and results.
Interpret and analyze requirements obtained/derived from customer; review, verify and/or validate system specifications and other design-related documentation.
Interact with multiple contractors and the user community to refine user training needs and capture training effectiveness measurements.
Integrate eLearning courses and associated content into the LMS platform of choice and use features to create quizzes, surveys, and assessments to gauge learner understanding and track progress, enabling data-drive decision making.
Participate in system development activities such as Agile Sprints, Features and Demonstrations, Subject matter Expert (SME) sessions, and User Testing sessions.
Present technical level briefings in areas of responsibility as required.
Assist with developing procedures, plans, schedules, and documents required for execution of the deployment process in accordance with provided policies and procedures.
Validate training materials, instructor certifications, reference materials and technical manuals used in performance of orientation training.
Keep current with new training topics and techniques.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree with experience in technical writing, training, and/or instructional design.
Experience in instructional systems design, with approximately 5 of years of hands-on experience producing eLearning storyboards and other artifacts with eLearning development software programs such as Camtasia, Captivate, Storyline and Adobe Creative Suite.
Proven experience leading the strategic and tactical elements of training program and course design and development to deliver innovative training utilizing industry ISD standards such as ADDIE and SAM for instructor-led, scenario-based, and web-based training.
Experience using a content management system/learning management system (LMS) to upload, organize, and manage training content.
Proven success in evaluating learning programs to determine program success and improvements necessary.
Experience with online learning platforms such as Moodle and Blackboard.
Experience with modernizing training requirements from legacy systems and processes.
Skilled in problem solving and debugging.
Experience with leading government training activities.
Must be self-directed and detail oriented.
Must be able to work with multiple stakeholders in different parts of the country both in person and through remote technologies.
Exceptional ability to plan, prioritize and execute on multiple events at one time.
Preferred:
Consulting experience supporting FDA clients.
Experience with LMS administration.
Understanding of accessibility (508) and universal design principals in training development.
Consulting capability with leaders at all levels to design strategic solutions to address agency/program organizational needs.
Experience with implementing experiential and gamification learning techniques.
