DEFINITION:
Under supervision of the Program Director will provide a warm, nurturing, safe and loving environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality respected.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
To interact, initiate and encourage the children in activities during the day; help the children control behavior using a positive and appropriate approach and using a consistent technique; to help children become independent; to help children learn good social skills; to maintain good communication with parents; to assist the teacher in planning activities for the group; develop a cooperative and supportive attitude within the classroom; to assist the teacher in record keeping by assisting on observations regarding the children’s health, behavior and development; to help build a supportive team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requirements:
Must be 18 years old.
Bilingual highly desired.
Ability to:
Relate joyfully and sensitively to preschool children.
Be sensitive to children’s individual needs.
To use appropriate and positive discipline.
Education, Training, and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Must submit documentation at time of hire;
Valid California Child Development Teacher Permit; or
Minimum of 24 units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Education coursework.
Basic Requirements:
Possession of a valid California Driver’s License;
TB and Livescan clearance prior to employment;
Physical/Mental Health Screening by a licensed physician.
First Aid certification or multi-media Red Cross certificate.
