SALARY: $62,550.00 - $70,000.00 Annually

CLASS DESCRIPTION

The Youth Apprenticeship and Internship Specialist will work under the direction of the Work-Based Learning Manager at Baltimore City Public Schools, in the Office of College and Career Readiness. This role is responsible for student engagement, recruitment, and project management of City Schools’ youth apprenticeship and internship programs. The specialist will build relationships with school-based staff, students, parents/guardians, and industry partners to ensure high-quality and successful youth apprenticeship and internship participation and completion.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Works with students and school-based teams to connect students to youth apprenticeship and district internship opportunities.
• Supports program implementation fidelity and program management of district Work-Based Learning and Apprenticeship Maryland Program (AMP) courses.
• Works closely with students and school-based teams to align internships and apprenticeship experiences to meet the goals of each individual student work-based and postsecondary plan.
• Monitors and maintains oversight of work experience opportunities for all students enrolled in Work-Based Learning and AMP courses.
• Oversees student and employer vetting, matching, experience and case management.
• Maintains all legal forms and documents as it pertains to work-based learning events and programming.
• Host student and parent engagement events around work-based learning awareness.
• Collects data and prepares reports for submission to the Office of College and Career Readiness.
• Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant field preferred.

AND

EXPERIENCE: Have two years of directly related experience working with young people.

OR

NOTES(EQUIVALENCIES): An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted, as long as it directly relates to the essential duties and responsibilities. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated understanding and/or certification in youth development practices.

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work remotely with a result-driven approach, responsiveness in a timely manner to supervisors, staff, and external stakeholders.
• Ability to travel to and between schools on a frequent basis.
