SALARY RANGE: $40,770.00 - $48,225.00 ANNUALLY
EDUCATION ACCREDITATION: Applicant’s education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.
ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.
PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.

Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a rotating shift to provide 24-hour coverage, seven days a week. Work is performed in an office setting where the employee seldom encounters uncomfortable environmental or hazardous working conditions. Work requires moderate physical exertion.
SELECTION PROCESS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
EDUCATION: Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
AND
EXPERIENCE: Have three years of experience in operating a two-way base radio and related communications equipment.
OR
NOTES (EQUIVALENCIES: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND CERTIFICATIONS: Some positions in this class may require a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of City Street locations.
- Skill in the operation of two-way base radios and related communications equipment.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
- Ability to read maps.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to perform under high stress situations.
- Ability to maintain records
EXAMINATION PROCESS
