About the Employer
The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools office acts as an intermediate service agency between the California Department of Education and the 33 school districts in San Bernardino County to help meet the educational needs of all children county-wide. Job Summary
Under the direction of the Program Manager, College & Career Services, the Teacher on Assignment (TOA), Arts Education will assist teachers, students, administrators, staff, parents, and community members with instructional strategies that use the arts to accelerate and sustain student achievement. The TOA, Arts Education will provide a wide range of services to incorporate arts in education. This individual will also provide on-going regular staff development on the integration of arts in Special Education, Alternative Education, and/or State Preschool classrooms.
Requirements / Qualifications
Subject matter expertise in visual, performing, graphic, and/or media arts curriculum, must be demonstrated within your application package.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Provides classroom demonstration lessons on how to incorporate arts into curriculum units;
• Creates and distributes classroom resources to promote arts integration into the curriculum;
• Travels to various locations to assist staff with instructional strategies that use the arts to
accelerate and sustain student achievement;
• Provides staff development on arts education for teachers, students, administrators, staff,
parents, and community members;
• Develops and maintains effective relationships with Student Services school staff, other SBCSS
branches, public and private agencies, and community organizations;
• Identifies and shares promising/best practices in arts education;
• Recommends strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, including English Learners,
foster youth, socioeconomically disadvantaged, special education, and high-achieving
students;
• Implements arts-related projects and grants;
• Maintains data to monitor achievement trends and program effectiveness;
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Possession of a valid California Clear teaching credential;
• Five (5) years of classroom experience;
• Experience with visual, performing, graphic, and/or media arts curriculum;
• Two (2) years of experience in a lead or advisory position.
