Detailed Description
Concept and architect automation stations and assembly lines
Analysis of inputs and the creation of User Requirements in order to determine feasibility of using one or more machines to carry out sequential operations in known process time
Must be capable of designing systems from sketches or verbal concepts
Perform engineering calculations with respect to cycle time, strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc. as related to machine and tool designs
Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine requirements in the development of equipment to meet process and products specifications
Produce working drawings, models and bills of materials for equipment, in collaboration with Suppliers
Work with large global automation integrators to optimize systems from technical information and specifications
Analyze designs and systems for compliance to applicable standards (i.e. CE or customer specific)
Communicate all requested design changes to various teams
Responsible for project management and on time, on budget project execution including communicating progress on project tasks to site/regional stakeholders
Formalize and update drawing documentation
Liaise with fabricators, machinists, toolmakers and electricians in the completion of equipment and resolving problems. A working knowledge of common machine shop techniques

Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings safely
Expectation of travel: to vendor/site locations is less than 50-75% of time. However, may be exceeded in critical times throughout project lifecycle.
Physical Demands
Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
Occasional travel may be required.
Typical Experience
Minimum 7-10 years in automation design at a machine integrator, or equivalent, designing and concepting machines from small table top to large complex integrated stations.
Basic knowledge of printed circuit board assembly/electronics manufacturing are an asset.
Knowledge of project management tools and techniques such as; project and resource planning in MS Project and/or smartsheet considered an asset.
Typical Education
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering / Robotics/ Mechatronics or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
CAPM/PMP project management certification is an asset
Fluent in English and Spanish
Other languages are an asset
