Summary of Role:
This is a full-time position. The Workers’ Compensation Claims Assistant is an entry level position primarily responsible for reviewing and processing of medical bills and the intake of new claims. This is a client facing position which requires excellent communicative and collaborative skills. Knowledge of the workers’ compensation rules regulations, laws, and procedures are not a pre-requisite for employment. This is a full-time employment opportunity working a hybrid schedule from our NYC or Schenectady, NY offices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Open new work-related incidents and claims in the claims administrative system.
- Communicate with Claims Adjusters regarding new and existing claims.
- Process First and Subsequent Report of Injury forms based on claim information.
- Review and process invoices from medical providers & vendors.
- Process state denial forms with the Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB) & providers.
- Attach Explanation of Review (EORs) for weekly provider check prints.
- Processing and mailing checks with attachments to injured workers, medical providers, and vendors.
- Support and collaborate with existing claims team.
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
- Intermediate/advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
- Working knowledge of remainder of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Self-Starter with Ability to multitask, follow-up, and work within multiple deadlines
- Must be able to learn and work within a team structure
- Must be able to learn and work with multiple web-based programs or systems
Education and/or Experience:
- Must have high school diploma or equivalency.
- 1-2 years of client-facing or customer service experience is required.
- 1 year of previous experience in worker’s compensation billing is preferred.

The base salary range for this position in NYC is $40,000 – $60,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
