What We Do
About the Team:
The Product Design & Research (PDR) team is internal to Sequoia and supports the organization through user experience (UX) design and research. We employ a variety of research methodologies to capture user behaviors, needs, and pain points. Afterwards, we utilize those findings to build user-centered solutions.
About the Role:
As a Lead UX Researcher, you will utilize a variety of research methodologies to understand our users, both internal and external to the organization. During data collection, you will bring our partners “along for the ride” to improve buy-in. You will also serve as the organization’s evangelist for the user, educator of best UX practices, and research subject matter expert. Additionally, you will act as a leader on the team, assisting with research education, strategy, and training.
Responsibilities:
- Develop research plans based on a business problem
- Collect and analyze data, while including partners to build rapport
- Report findings as actionable next steps
- Collaborate with a diverse group of partners, including, but limited to: Design, Engineering, Operations, and Product
- Communicate clearly across various audiences, levels, and job functions
- Build consensus with partners
- Practice active and empathetic listening
- Takes constructive feedback well, and strives to improve professionally
- Works autonomously and independently
- Practices a flexible approach to problem solving

- Acts as a leader on the team, assisting with research education, strategy, and training
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or Human-Factors, or related field (e.g. Business & Market Research; Cognitive Science; Educational Technology; Informatics; Library Sciences; Social Sciences)
- 7+ years of experience in an applied or product research setting
- Expert at conducting generative (i.e., discovery) and evaluative (i.e., testing) research
- Expert at transforming research data into a story with actionable insights
- Highly proficient at collaborating with a diverse group of partners, including, but limited to: Design, Engineering, Operations, and Product
- Ability to work autonomously and independently on projects, with little-to-no oversight
- Positive attitude, with an interest in mentoring others for professional development
- Ability to act as a leader on the team, assisting with research education, strategy, and training
Pay Range: $160,000 - $174,000 annually
This hiring range is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the salary range of possible compensation at the time of the posting, and is subject to change. The actual compensation offered will be determined by various factors, which may include a candidate’s education, training, experience, and geographic location.
