COURT TECHNOLOGY INTERN (Application Development)*

(*Job Classification: Staff Aid II)

HOURLY SALARY:

$18.25

The Court has internship opportunities for students currently studying computer science, information systems or a closely related technical field. Our current opportunities are assigned to our Application Development unit. These paid internships will be between 20 to 40 hours per week during school breaks, and between 8 to 16 hours during the school year for a limited duration. Work hours are flexible to accommodate class schedule.

Under the direction of a Court systems professional, interns will be responsible for one or more of the following work duties:

• Assist in defining and analyzing user requirements and business rules.
• Translate system requirements into logical system processes; write or modify program source code; draft system and user documentation for review; develop simple applications.
• Perform maintenance; write and test program codes.
• Assist in developing and executing test plans.
• Develop tools and utilities using standard software and development tools.
• Research and evaluate hardware and software packages.
• Knowledge of any of the following technologies is a plus:
  1. .NET Core 2
  2. Angular
  3. ASP.NET MVC
  4. Azure Cloud
  5. Data Analytics
  6. Java, C# or Python
  7. Power BI
  8. Relational database (SQL Server or Oracle DB)
  9. Web technologies (HTML, XML, JSON, CSS, JavaScript, etc.)

Interns are expected to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive, complex and/or confidential issues and situations. They must be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions as well as read, interpret, and explain technical information for non-technical users. Interns also contribute to team efforts.

To be considered for the Court Technology Internship, candidates must:

• Be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.
• Have a college GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Have a declared major in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related technical field.
• Attach a copy of your most recent transcript(s) (unofficial copy acceptable).
  

Experience and/or course work in the following is desirable:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: For some positions, the ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; climb, bend, kneel and stoop to access cables and data ports underneath and behind desks and furniture; speak clearly and understandably and hear clearly both in-person and over the telephone; vision for both close and distance work.

Selection Process
Step 1: Applications will be reviewed to identify candidates who meet the minimum qualifications and/or desirables; those candidates will be referred to step 2 in the selection process.

Step 2: Candidates' supplemental question responses may be evaluated and ranked. Depending on the number of applications, assessments and/or screening interviews may be conducted. If any part of the assessment process consists of proctored, in-person tests, candidates will be required to appear in person regardless of where they reside. Note: Though candidates may live outside of the State of California while participating in a recruitment process, individuals must reside within the State to be eligible for Court employment.

Step 3: Those candidates who are successful in the review/assessment may be placed on the eligible list. Placement on the eligible list is not a guarantee of interview or employment.
