Public Works Technician I (Starting salary: $33,613):
Constructs, maintains, and repairs streets, roadways, drainage systems, storm sewers, water/wastewater lines and other facilities.
Employees who complete their CDL Certification will be eligible for a promotion to a Public Works Technician II.
Applicants with a Commercial Driver's License (Class B with Air Break Endorsement or higher level) & prior experience may be considered for Public Works Technician II position.
Public Works Technician II (Starting salary: $35,451)
**The City of Colonial Heights will provide employees with the opportunity to obtain their CDL (Class B with Air Break Endorsement), to include course enrollment, on the job training, and final DMV test. Employees who obtain this licensure may be eligible to progress to a Public Works Technician II position.**

Education & Experience
• High School diploma (or equivalent) and 1 to less than 3 years directly related experience. • Must possess the ability to obtain and maintain required license as deemed necessary within specified period of time. • A Commercial Driver's License is desirable.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing, lifting of objects weighing in excess of 74 pounds, moving in areas of difficult or dangerous access.
The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress that require a range of safety and other precautions.
