POSITION TITLE: Athletic Trainer/Equipment Manager
Position Summary: The job of "Athletic Trainer/Equipment Manager" is done for the purpose/s of preventing, treating, and rehabilitating athletic injuries; issuing, returning, repairing all athletic equipment; conducting inventories and ensuring the security of all equipment.
Essential Functions:
* Assists in an athletic training program for the purpose of preventing and treating athletic injuries.
* Assists in acquiring, fitting and caring for athletic equipment and supplies for the purpose of providing appropriate and safe equipment and supplies for athletes.
* Facilitates athletic physical exams for the purpose of complying with state regulations.
* Presents information on various topics to coaches, athletes, student trainers and others for the purpose of communicating information.
* Administers first aid and emergency care for the purpose of providing appropriate care for injured athletes.
* Compiles data for the purpose of providing documentation.
* Attends athletic activities for the purpose of providing appropriate support to athletes, coaches and others
* Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies for the purpose of determining departmental needs.
* Supervises athletes for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of athletes, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code, district and/or school policies.
Other Functions:
* Participates in various meetings (e.g. parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information.

* Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
Skill to apply assessment techniques and treatment modalities; communicate effectively, establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, athletes, and school administrators.
Knowledge of modern training techniques and practices, equipment and supplies used by athletes, general safety issues, and CIF requirements.
Ability to work outdoors; work independently; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; make common sense decisions in routine and potentially critical situations; be flexible and work under time constraints; work effectively with staff, parents, students and community. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, near/far acuity/visual accommodation.
