Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information

JOB SUMMARY:
This position manages the daily operations of the Adelphi athletics sports information office including providing full coverage for all 23 athletic programs including – but not limited to- SAAC programs and initiatives, alumni events, fundraising events and community service projects. Coverage extends to both on and off campus events and games and is consistent with conference and NCAA requirements.
SALARY INFORMATION:
In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $62,400. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Athletics, External Relations and SWA
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Must be able to abide by NCAA and NE-10 requirements on required reporting of results, special programs and news worthy accomplishments.
- Understand the importance of special athletic achievements by both students and teams. Provide all information to all sources including distributing information to local, state and national media.
- Alongside Associate AD and graduate assistant, manage the athletic department’s website including daily updates.
- Nominate athletes, coaches and staff members for conference, national and other athletically related team and individual Honors. Maintain all athletic related records.
- Nominate student-athletes for post-graduation awards, recognition and scholarships.
- Assist in the selection and promotion of the Adelphi Athletics Players of The Week.
- Assist in the selection and promotion of all department special events in conjunction with the Coordinator of Special Events and athletic marketing.
- Oversee and assist in the creation and implementation of all departmental social media strategies.
- Serve as program administrator for assigned sports.
- Supervise and coordinate working personnel at all athletic events, i.e. press box and scorer’s table in addition to hiring broadcasters and oversight of NE10 Now digital platform initiative.
- Supervise Graduate Assistants and student employees.
- Responsible for scheduling various outside service providers and submitting paperwork through the athletics business office to process payment.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Strong writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with coaches and staff members for the promotion of sports program and student-athletes.
- Ability to maintain accurate records that reflect the past and present.
- Ability to prioritize workload.
- Ability to be organized and emphasis on detail.
- Knowledge of electronic media.
- Ability to work with highly motivated coaches and athletes.
- Knowledge of all sports Adelphi University sponsors.
- Must be flexible to work when contests are scheduled.
- Must coordinate graduate assistants, student workers and hourly employees.
- Stay on the cutting edge of stat programs, Adobe creative suite, and design concepts
- Must adhere to the rules and regulations of Adelphi University, the NCAA and the Northeast -10 Conference.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work long hours.
- Hours for the position are varied; evenings and weekends are required.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Two to three years of related experience.
