Job Abstract

Become an Eastern Distribution System Planning Engineer 2 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you'll be working under Distribution System Analysis (DSA) within SCEs System Planning and Engineering (SP&E) organization. You will work within the Distribution Planning group, responsible for the long-term planning development and implementation of the distribution system. The Engineer 2 will support the development of the Distribution Substation Plan (DSP) and the implementation and sponsorship of distribution projects enabling growth and Distributed Energy Resources (DER). This position will help reduce carbon emissions, create cleaner air, as well as ensure a reliable T&D system. Are you ready to take on the challenge to help us build the future?

• Perform detailed DSP analysis and studies as required to resolve need and/or requirements for capital projects to improve the grid. This includes, but is not limited to identification and planning of new circuitry and substation upgrades as well as Engineering Analysis Report Studies
• Work independently to support the prioritization of new distribution projects, development of regulatory filings, and support of Distribution Engineering
• Provide technical support to internal and external customers as subject matter expert for the distribution system
• Support and lead the development, interpretation, and application of existing/new engineering standards and designs

• Bachelors degree or higher in Engineering
• Two or more years of engineering experience
• Possess valid Drivers License

• Experience/knowledge of the distribution equipment and the distribution system
• Experience in the area of power system engineering analysis, including knowledge of applicable regulations, standards, codes, and analysis software such as CYME and CAPE
• Experience performing technical/engineering research to perform thorough and objective analysis and to reach logical and defendable conclusions
• Experience preparing detailed engineering studies and reports
• Experience using Visio
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts and deliver technical presentations to both a technical and non-technical audience, including external customers
• Ability to resolve conflicts in a manner which results in win-win solutions for all the parties involved
• Ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation

• This positions work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

• This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.
