Job Summary
This Program Specialist position plays a crucial role in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment within the educational setting. Using strategies and techniques within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports, this professional collaborates with students, teachers, and classified staff to implement effective strategies for promoting positive student behavior. During structured classroom instructional time, the specialist works closely with educators to identify and address behavioral challenges, collects student data on behavior/academics, and employs evidence-based interventions to enhance the overall classroom experience. Such behavioral support includes support for students in general education as well as those who may have special needs. This will necessitate knowledge of district special education programs, including the review and implementation of IEPs. This program specialist role will assist site administration in leading crisis intervention teams to monitor and de-escalate extreme student behaviors. Additionally, their role extends to unstructured outdoor activities, where they implement proactive approaches to ensure a smooth and positive transition between different learning environments. By fostering strong relationships with students and collaborating with school personnel, the Program Specialist contributes significantly to creating an atmosphere that supports not only academic success but also the social and emotional well-being of all students.
