Job Summary
Job Description:
Full-time Teacher position in a special education classroom of up to 12 students with social/emotional, learning, and behavioral issues. Case carrier for up to 12-14 students.
The Position is high school math and biology for the remainder of this school year. The candidate may move to another grade (K-12) fort the next school year .

- A valid CA Mild Moderate Special Education credential is required.
- An accompanying Mod/Severe credential is preferred
- Knowledge and experience with special education, behavior management techniques, and/or working with children with autism spectrum disorders, is required.

WORK HOURS:
- The position is a salaried, exempt position. The normal school hours are from 8:15 to 3:15. In addition, there are periodic meetings that occur before and after school which you will be expected to attend.
- Classes operate from late August to late July annually. (This is an 11-month position)
- Teachers are assigned before school supervision (for a week at a time). This begins at 7:50 a.m.
BENEFITS:
- Medical and dental insurance is effective on the first day of the month following the first full month of employment. Mardan pays between 50% and 75% of medical insurance and 75% of the medical insurance premium. The employee pays 25% to 50% of the total medical premium, depending upon which option is chosen, and 25% of the dental premium.
- Vision insurance is effective on the first day of the month following the first full month of employment at no cost for employee coverage. Employees pay for 100% of dependent coverage.
- $25,000 of life insurance is provided to the employee at no cost, effective on the first day of the month following the first full month of employment. The benefit decreases at age 65.
- Long-term disability insurance is provided to the employee, effective on the first day of the month following the first full month of employment, at the employee's cost.
- Employees are immediately eligible to enroll in Mardan FSA Medical and/or dependent care plan.
- Employees are eligible to participate in the Mardan 403(b) retirement plan effective immediately upon hire.
- Employees are eligible to participate in the Mardan SEP/IRA retirement plan after 3 years of employment.
- Full-time teachers earn 4 paid weeks of vacation during the school year (160 hours) and 4 paid weeks of vacation during August (160 hours); each accrued at 40 hours per week. During the first year of employment, and any subsequent year that the employee does not work a full year for Mardan, paid vacation will be prorated based on the portion of the school year that the employee is employed by (and is present) at Mardan. Vacations must be taken during the times that school is closed.
- Full-Time teachers earn 10 paid leave days (80 hours) during the school year. During the first year of employment, and any subsequent year that the employee does not work a full year for Mardan, paid leave days will be prorated based on the portion of the school year that the employee is employed by (and is present) at Mardan. Employees may only take 3 consecutive paid days off in a row, unless otherwise preapproved.
