Associate Director, Scientific Communications Lead

Are you passionate about communicating scientific findings to drive action and progress? We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as the Associate Director, Scientific Communications Lead. This role requires independence and dexterity to learn and effectively communicate complex scientific findings at the intersection of Oncology and AI. The individual in this role will additionally shape our communication strategy to spur action and drive adoption of research, as well as enhance our visibility in the scientific community.
Accountabilities:
As the Associate Director, Scientific Communications Lead, you will deeply understand multiple research projects at the technical and conceptual level. You will be the primary contributor for manuscript writing for publication of diverse research projects. You will engage with multiple projects at the conceptual level and help share the communication narrative. You will also coordinate and manage internal and external scientific communications meetings and forums to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration among team members and external partners. Lastly, you will develop, lead, and execute a communications strategy, in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- PhD and 0-3 years of expereince
- Diverse subject matter expertise, knowledge of the latest developments, and perspective on emerging trends in at least one biological and one mathematical discipline such as: oncology, data science, machine learning, computational biology, bioinformatics, statistics, drug discovery and development, biology, wet-lab experimentation
- Exceptional written communication skills and an excellent, quantifiable track record of publications, grant-writing, book chapters, or similar scientific communication pieces
- Ability to learn new fields with ease through independent study as well as by identifying and engaging relevant subject matter experts
- Detail-oriented, especially with respect to scientific concepts and findings, and their interpretation
- Excellent organizational, planning, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Experience in managing and coordinating scientific communications meetings and forums
- Experience in developing strategy for and delivering scientific advocacy, outreach, or communication campaigns across diverse media formats (e.g. social media, conference, podcast, broadcast, internet)
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Extensive experience as a peer reviewer for leading journals or in grant review is a plus
