Job Abstract

A new opportunity has opened for a Senior RN Director of Emergency Services at a prestigious hospital in the Washington, DC, region. This ED Nurse Leader will join an extensive healthcare system that is solvent and growing.

As the ED Nurse Assistant Director, you will be part of an award-winning 400-bed hospital undergoing a $500 million expansion project. This expansion includes a new state-of-the-art ED, doubling the campus size. The Emergency Room, which saw nearly 100,000 patients last year, now consists of a pediatric and behavioral health wing and is one of the highest-ranked Trauma Centers in the region.

Reporting to the CNO, the Nurse Director of Emergency Services will be responsible for daily operations, quality assurance, hospital compliance, and performance improvement initiatives. This significant role will have over 150 direct reports, two Nurse Emergency Room Managers, multiple ED ANMs, and Charge Nurses. This busy ED sees over 100,000 visits annually.

This new ED Nurse Director will inspire a team of Staff RNs, many with their CEN. Nurse Leaders with their MSN and an ability to show tangible metrics on their resumes will earn quick interviews. RN Leaders with Director leadership experience at a Level 1 Trauma center will stand out among applicants.

As the ER Nurse Director, you will play a crucial role in ensuring ethical practice and providing overall responsibility for the unit's functioning. You will be able to expand the ED serviceline, educate leadership and staff, and implement departmental procedures. Most importantly, you will help set high nursing standards and promote a collaborative work environment, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
