The Operations Supervisor supervises the Material Recovery Facility daily operations to ensure the highest standards of safety and operations are followed in order to ensure safety, and improve production.
Job Description
Supervisory Responsibilities include but not limited to direction of 75 full-time employees, as well as indirect supervision of 150 contract employees.
Ensures efficient and safe operation of the site.
Ensures compliance of Athens Services’ safety training, policies and procedure.
Creates work schedules that meets site’s staffing needs.
Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of facility.
Engages employees to create a safe, energetic work environment through feedback and recognition.
Investigates and completes reports for work related injuries and/or vehicle accidents/incidents and submits paperwork to appropriate insurance carriers in a timely manner.
Conducts employee safety observations to ensure safety and productivity procedures are being followed.
Enforces Athens Services safety rules and regulations; this includes disciplining employees for safety rules violations and unsafe acts.
Ensures new employees are trained on general safety policies, DOT drug and alcohol program, and proper use of assigned equipment.
Will handle special projects and other related management duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
2 - 5 years of management experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledgeable in Federal DOT regulations.
Knowledgeable in OSHA standard regulations.
Exceptional leadership, problem solving, and organizational abilities.
Superior interpersonal skills and ability to coach and develop subordinates.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to effectively interface with general public and regulatory agencies.
Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
Transportation/Waste industry experience.
Bilingual English/Spanish.
