The City of Oxnard is currently looking for a GIS Manager to join our growing team of technology professionals. The GIS Manager is a key member of the IT leadership team and reports to the IT Director of Solution Delivery. The manager will lead the team responsible for development, implementation, and management of GIS applications and services to support various city functions. The GIS Manager will lead a team of GIS professionals and collaborate with multiple departments to leverage geospatial technology in enhancing city operations and decision-making.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Information Technology Officer I is the journey level class for the Information Technology Officer series. This class is tasked with managing City resources and contract staff to oversee assigned systems projects and initiatives. This class is distinguished from the Information Technology Officer I in that the Information Technology Officer I provides planning, implementation and operational oversight of assigned technology function, and may provide direct supervision of assigned staff.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED:
Receives general supervision from the IT Director of Solution Delivery. Exercises supervision over City staff and contract staff in the assigned function area.
WORK SCHEDULE:
The normal work week is Monday through Friday 8:00 am-6:00 pm with every other Friday off. This position may be required to be available to work additional hours as needed to respond to workload needs.
Please note:
The Information Technology Department supports public safety personnel including the Police Department. Therefore, as part of the selection process, applicants will be required to successfully complete a thorough background investigation, which includes a polygraph exam.

NOTE: For most positions, the City of Oxnard relies on office automation (Microsoft Office/Google) and web-based enabled tools, therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
Regular and reliable attendance, effective communication skills, and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all positions.
Employees are required to participate in the City's direct deposit plan and are paid on a bi-weekly basis.
This position requires a 12 month probationary period.
