Our client has been in business for over 30 years servicing clients throughout MD and DC. They started as a small specialty contractor but have since expanded their portfolio to include commercial renovations & new construction projects worth up to $10M. They have a strong growth plan in place to achieve $150M in annual revenue and are looking to grow their team as a result. They are looking to hire an Assistant Estimator.
Job Description
The Assistant Estimator - Family-Owned GC - MD will be responsible for:
Assisting in analyzing project blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to understand project requirements.
Gathering and compiling data on materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs required for project estimation.
Utilizing estimating software and tools to input data and generate cost estimates.
Researching and evaluating supplier and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitiveness and accuracy in cost estimates.
Collaborating with senior estimators to review and refine estimates, incorporating factors such as project scope changes, market conditions, and regulatory requirements.
Supporting the preparation of bid proposals, including organizing and formatting documentation, and ensuring compliance with bid submission requirements.
Conducting site visits and surveys to gather information relevant to estimating.
Maintaining organized records of project estimates, correspondence, and related documentation.
Communicating effectively with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to address inquiries and clarify requirements.
Staying updated on industry trends, materials pricing, and construction methodologies to inform estimating processes.

The Successful Applicant
The Assistant Estimator - Family-Owned GC - MD will have:
At least 3 years of experience in estimating with a General Contractor
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field preferred
Proficiency in using estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, PlanSwift, Excel)
Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail
Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and terminology
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and technologies
Commitment to teamwork and collaboration within a dynamic construction environment

a competitive base salary up to $95,000 dependent on experience
