Posting Summary | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Vice President for Enrollment and Student Finance. The Vice President for Enrollment and Student Finance will oversee an office that will unite existing units responsible for processing undergraduate and graduate student applications; financial aid; student accounting, billing, and cashiering; and enrollment operations. With a steadfast commitment to ensuring an exceptional student experience, the office will perform a comprehensive set of services that meet the diverse needs of the academic units and the university community. Where necessary, this work will require review and refinement of existing procedure and the design and/or implementation of new processes and systems. In collaboration with various administrative and academic stakeholders, this new unit will streamline and strengthen key university processes, ensuring efficient, transparent, and user-friendly operations, in service of the university mission and the development of a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive academic environment. Through its integrated service model, the office will play a pivotal role in enabling student access, affordability, and success.
The Vice President for University Enrollment and Student Finance is a newly created position designed to guide the vision, strategy, and operational execution of university enrollment and student financial services. As the chief administrative officer responsible for oversight of undergraduate and graduate admissions processing, student financial services (including financial aid), and related operations, the Vice President will work closely with administrative and academic stakeholders — and in partnership with enrollment leaders within the University’s academic units — with the goal of streamlining and enhancing key administrative processes and functions that impact the experience of prospective and current students with an emphasis on customer service. The Vice President will also be responsible for ensuring compliance and providing direction for the interpretation of federal and state legal and regulatory requirements. By leveraging technology and employing innovative practices, the unit the Vice President oversees will continuously seek to optimize its offerings, ensuring these offerings align to the evolving landscape of higher education and student expectations.
The Vice President reports to the Executive Vice President – Chief Financial Officer, serves as a member of the President’s Administrative Council, and oversees staff members and operations across the student continuum including undergraduate and graduate application processing, financial aid, enrollment operations and student accounting, billing and cashiering.
Key responsibilities for the Vice President include:

- Leads a multifaceted team, successfully integrating discrete units and functions into a department that champions operational and administrative excellence, in service of student success.
- Directs the planning, allocation, and oversight of resources, ensuring funds are used effectively, appropriately, and transparently to support strategic objectives and enhance student services.
- Oversees the recruitment, orientation, development, and evaluation of staff.
- Leads the creation and enforcement of policies and procedures that govern the work of reporting units, ensuring responsiveness to regulatory changes, institutional priorities, and best practices in higher education.
- Works collaboratively with the members of the President’s Cabinet and with staff representing the four Chancellor units to lead the coordination and execution of strategic planning, special events, and professional development for student administration, serving on committees and task forces when needed.
- Engages with internal and external stakeholders, promoting close collaboration across the University and among Chancellor units and schools of the University, reinforcing a commitment to providing outstanding student and enrollment services.
- Drives continuous improvement, including cutting-edge technologies and digital strategies, to enhance performance and administrative efficiency.
- Ensures compliance with federal and state legal and regulatory requirements as they relate to student administration, providing direction for the interpretation of regulatory requirements (e.g., federal and state financial aid).
- Provides quality customer service in accordance with the University’s values, including maintaining positive working relationships, confidentiality, effective communication, accurate records, and an organized and safe working environment.
Student success is Rutgers’ “North Star,” and in creating the Vice President for University Enrollment and Student Finance role, the University seeks to integrate university enrollment and student financial services across central administration and all four chancellor units to foster student access, affordability, and success. The Vice President will be the architect of a new vision, strategy, and operational execution for fresh organizational structures that promote customer service; ensure compliance with appropriate laws and regulations; and position the office to effectively take on numerous projects associated with admissions and financial aid, tied through Project Cornerstone, specifically, the Student Experience Improvement Initiative and the upcoming student information system project.
