As aMedical Management Clinical Review Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for supporting community-based initiatives with a focus on improving member access, provider education and driving stronger engagement in the community. The coordinator will partner with FQHCs, Head Start programs, providers and other community-based organizations to promote prevention, support state efforts to increase dental utilization; educate on enrollees and their families on oral health and hygiene, and the importance of establishing a dental home. The position requires a minimum of up to 70% local travel throughout Long Island and the Metro NYC area.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Participate in a wide variety of community events and visit a variety of organizations, providing oral health education and dental screenings at wellness events including client organized events, community events, school events and day care/head start events
- Build relationships and support community-based initiatives working with local advocacy and community organizations to better understand local conditions and barriers to care
- Visit dental practices to educate providers about the needs of members in a community, local barriers to care and local initiatives or events that may be relevant to providers or members
- Work with Providers to integrate health education, wellness, and prevention training into the care of each Dental Member and work with them on outreach initiatives
- Disseminate targeted information that leads to better clinical and administrative outcomes
- Share educational materials about evidence-based interventions proven to improve outcomes in Medicaid or other high-risk populations
- Increase provider awareness of performance measures and assist with member outreach to keep annual dental visits and for preventive or other critical services. This can include mailings, calls, or community involvement
- Collaborate internally across the enterprise to meet ongoing business and project requirements
- Work to create messaging on oral health topics that can be shared with members and providers on annual dental visits and preventative services

Required Qualifications:
- Registered Dental Hygienist in the state of NY (must be active and unrestricted)
- 2+ years of experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously
- Proven ability to identify solutions to non-standard requests and problems
- Ability to travel throughout Long Island and NYC
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of health care experience or state contract-based experience
- Solid understanding of general dental terminology and ADA codes
- Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, clinical and non- clinical subject matter experts

New York Residents Only: The hourly range for this role is $28.03 to $54.95 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
