Overview
AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. is seeking a full-time experienced litigation paralegal for its growing in-house staff counsel office in New York. This position will support a team of attorneys handling general liability in New York.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Substantial review and summarizing of medical records and deposition transcripts
Must be able to identify entries in medical records that are critical to the defense analysis of the case and/or that trigger additional discovery measures warranted
Assist in drafting summaries of the medical records, noting relevant information contained within the records, for assigned attorneys
Assist with drafting of motions and pleadings
Trial preparation including trial exhibits, charts, trial notebook, jury instructions, verdict forms, trial subpoenas, etc.
Preparing and responding to discovery
The candidate should be able to work under pressure, remain flexible, be proactive, resourceful, and efficient
Qualifications
Paralegal certification and/or degree from accredited college or university
Minimum of 7 years of Litigation Paralegal experience. A strong medical background, such as nursing, may substitute.
Exceptional litigation skills and excellent working knowledge of legal documents
Working knowledge and experience complying with New York rules and laws applicable to the civil litigation practice
Strong written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate effectively with attorneys, staff and clients
Bachelors degree required
Bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required
