St. Martin’s Publishing Group is currently seeking a Manager of Audience Development.
This role will be tasked with helping us better understand the relationships we have with our existing audiences, and also lead the strategy for attracting and developing new audiences. With a focus on our Email/Newsletter strategy and execution, they’ll expand and retool our current in- house program, prioritizing acquisition, retention, testing, performance, and reporting. They’ll also be involved in the audience development strategy for key authors and titles on our publishing list, working closely with the Manager, Audience Experience to engage and track our audiences consistently across various platforms and experiences.
This role will be joining an Audience Development team that also handles digital advertising, analytics, audience research, and social media strategy, and the ideal candidate will have an interest in and contribute to these endeavors as well.
What you'll do:
- Oversee the planning, creation, testing, deployment, and reporting on all internal newsletter sends across our various lists.
- Oversee the SMPG audience acquisition activities and strategies.
- Main point of contact on email with Macmillan Central Marketing.
- Develop audience development and engagement campaigns for a select group of our authors and individual titles working in concert with the Manager, Audience Experience.
- Contribute to our in-house digital advertising and analytics operation.
- Contribute to both SMPG-owned and author-owned audience development and engagement activities.
- Optimize and analyze results, disseminate results through written recaps, presentations in meetings, etc.
- Stay current on email, social and book publishing trends/platforms, related to audience development and report back to SMPG stakeholders.
- Appear/speak on behalf of SMPG at various events, conferences, etc as needed.
What you'll bring:
- A knowledge of email marketing and audience development best practices, with a proven track record developing and managing newsletters as a tool for audience engagement and retention.
- An enthusiasm about experimentation and testing creative strategies.
- The ability to write and communicate data-driven insights effectively and succinctly, to a variety of unique audiences.
- An understanding of social media best practices and execution.
- An understanding of digital advertising platforms and KPIs.
- An understanding of audience research tools and tactics.
Ideal Experience & Education:
- 5-7 years of email, advertising, and/or social media marketing experience.
- 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
This role will have an annual salary of $70,000-$75,000.
