As a Cybersecurity Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to support developing our open-source cloud-based data science platform to DoD IL5 ATO acceptance criteria. To achieve this objective, you will?take security requirements provided by inside and outside specialists, translate them into actionable tasks for our software team, and collaborate with team members to ensure their correct and complete implementation.

What you’ll do:
- Contribute to the open-source data science platform “Nebari” (https://www.nebari.dev), deployed by our team as the CDAO JATIC T&E Platform.
- Translate IL5 ATO security acceptance criteria into actionable DevSecOps tasks.
- Support implementation of cybersecurity acceptance criteria to develop, deploy and operate our platform, frameworks, packages, and toolkits from a government-supported ecosystem.
- Harden configuration of cloud infrastructure such as firewalls, VPCs, IDS/IPS, monitoring, roles/permissions, etc, to ensure compliance with appropriate acceptance criteria.
- Design, implement, assess, and remediate open-source supply chain security measures such as dependency scans and SBOMs.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration tests of the entire software system to identify violations of acceptance criteria.
- Act swiftly and effectively to security incidents and potential breaches.
- Support investigations of system security hardening with updated POA&M and A&A documentation for AWS, Azure, and other government required Cloud Environments.
- Support security investigation and documentation for additional environments, as required.
- Provide our findings and enhancements as contributions to the open-source community.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- An active, current government-issued Secret security clearance or higher
- DoD IAT Level II Certification (or higher), such as Security+, CASP, CISSP, etc.
- 5 or more years of experience with hands-on experience designing and implementing DoD IL2+ systems.
- 5 or more years of experience configuring AWS Cloud services such as VPCs, S3, EC2, EKS, ECR.
- 5 or more years of experience working with Infrastructure-as-Code systems deploying cloud infrastructure.
- 5 or more years of experience working with Kubernetes.
- Experience integrating IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings into government cloud environments.?
- Familiarity with incident response procedures and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
