The City of Oxnard's Public Works Water Division is seeking a Water Conservation Outreach Technician with strong technical and customer service skills to be part of the Public Works team. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of basic water conservation concepts and practices, techniques, and products used by water agencies in water conservation programs.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Assist in programs to promote water conservation
Respond to customer inquiries or complaints
Participates in public outreach activities
Conduct residential, commercial and landscape water audits at various customer field locations
Provide consultation on residential and landscape water conservation methods
Analyze data and prepare reports on water conservation issues
Respond to water waste calls and 311 reports
- Perform water waste field investigation
Demonstrate a full understanding of all applicable policies, procedures, and work methods associated with assigned duties
Perform related duties as required
Payroll Title: Administrative Services Coordinator/Support Supervisor
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This classification is distinguished from the Administrative Services Specialist, Senior in that it provides complex and advanced administrative support to the City’s top executives and/or elected officials; performs paraprofessional management analysis work; or supervises an administrative or fiscal support unit of non-exempt employees.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED / SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Incumbents may serve as a lead worker, assigning work and monitoring work completion; or may supervise paraprofessional and support level staff. Receives general supervision on routine items which are performed according to established standards and procedures and receives specific work instruction regarding non-routine matters and deadlines.
WORK SCHEDULE:
The normal work week is 9/80: Monday through Thursday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and alternating Fridays 8:00 am-5:00 pm. This position may be required to be available to work additional hours as needed to respond to workload needs and emergency situations. This position is not governed by the overtime provisions of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay.

NOTE: For most positions, the City of Oxnard relies on office automation (Microsoft Office/Google) and web-based enabled tools, therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.

Employees are required to participate in the City's direct deposit plan and are paid on a bi-weekly basis.
This position requires a 12 month probationary period.
