Essential Functions

- Following department guidelines and ASHA standards, provides direct patient care, including assessment and treatment of patients, developing and carrying out individual designed treatment programs.
- Incorporates age-specific guidelines and interprets standardized diagnostic test using evidence-based training.
- Establishes and documents functional limitations, measurable goals with timelines and progress on goals and/or home practice information.
- Seeks input from patients regarding goals, progress to ensure standards of care
- Evaluates the effectiveness of treatment at various stages and makes adjustments to achieve maximum benefit or discharges and/or referrals
- Communicates with the referring physician, including obtaining certification of plan of care when necessary.
- Provides patient and/or family member with appropriate education to enhance knowledge and fully benefit from interventions.
- Assists with department finances with accurate daily billing practices, active daily maintenance of patient care schedule.
- Participates in team and hospital wide meetings, committees and initiatives as assigned

Job Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language Pathology from an accredited university.
Experience
- Prefer 3 years of experience as a Speech, Language Pathologist
License/ Certifications
- Current license to practice Speech Therapy in the State of California
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
- Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) certification preferred for inpatient speech therapist roles
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Good physical condition, which requires moderate lifting of equipment and patients.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and varying locations as assigned
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the hospital and departments

- Problem solver and critical thinker with the ability to anticipate possible issues

- Knowledge of Medicare documentation standards

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $47.00 - $64.00 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
