Associate Specialist, Animal Sciences and Technologies

We are seeking an Associate Specialist in Animal Sciences and Technologies who is passionate about animal welfare and ready to apply their expertise to make a significant impact. Accountabilities:
As an Associate Specialist, you will work independently and as part of a team, conducting hands-on husbandry duties with multiple laboratory animal species. Your responsibilities will include operating cage wash equipment, maintaining the animal facility in a clean and orderly condition, performing daily health checks, and using digital resources for log keeping and communication.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- HSD or equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience in a laboratory animal research setting
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the job
- Knowledge and use of protective equipment and safety procedures
- Willingness to perform husbandry tasks for animals exposed to BSL2 agents
- Basic computer skills – Microsoft Office, Outlook
- Good communication skills, competent in written and spoken English
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science at the ALAT level
- Knowledge of normal animal behavior for mouse, rat, and hamster species
- Knowledge of hazardous and infectious material handling
