Job Abstract

ECS is seeking an Accounting Intern to work in our Fairfax, VA office or remote.

Job Description:

The intern will perform a variety of accounting functions for the Technical Accounting, Contract Closeout, Billing and Accounts Payable teams, including:

• Assist in the completion of SOX controls related to revenue and accruals
• Attend program kick off reviews with technical accounting and project accounting
• Prepare flow charts for SOX controls
• Perform quarter end unrecorded liability search
• Create flow charts for contract closeout process documentation
• Assist in preparation of contract closeout packages
• Assist in organizing contract closeout documents and filing
• Assist with billing collections activities
• Assist in Accounts Receivable ad hoc analysis and dual-time payment reconciliation
• Assist with unapplied cash receipts research
• Assist Accounts Payable in invoice processing and entry
• Assist in Ad-Hoc activities

This internship position will get a taste of what it’s like to work in the controllership organization of the company, they will get experience in billing, accounts payable, general ledger, technical accounting & compliance and project accounting.

Salary: $20/hr.

• Ability to utilize problem-solving skills to efficiently isolate problems/errors, evaluate, and implement innovative solutions
• Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new financial systems quickly. Proficiency of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and Power Point.
• Must possess the ability to perform effectively under deadline pressure as well as be a team player in a team environment
• U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency status
• Demonstrated analytical skills, strong written and oral communication, and collaboration skills

Desired Skills:

• Working towards a Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline of Business (Accounting)
• A GPA of 3.25 or higher
