PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER (PMNNP) – SOUTHWEST GENERAL MEDICAL GROUP (SGMG)
Southwest General’s Oakview Behavioral Health Services offers the Greater Cleveland area state-of-the-art treatment and focuses on providing care with love, dignity and respect. Oakview Behavioral Health Services is licensed by the state of Ohio and accredited by Joint Commission.
We employ a variety of treatment methods to help you or your loved one achieve relief from the sufferings associated with mental health disorders and addiction. These treatments include:
- Crisis intervention
- Triage to levels of psychiatric care, when appropriate
- Evaluation of disturbed behaviors/thoughts/mental status
- Stabilization of deteriorating psychosocial function
- Protection from self-harm
- Medication support services
- Skills training groups using Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Discharge planning and referral for continuation of care and full reintegration to home/community

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMNNP) will split time between our Oakview Inpatient Adult Psych Unit and our SGMG Behavioral Health Outpatient office. PMNNP will provide inpatient and outpatient medical care with psychiatric consult/evaluation and medication management services at Southwest General Hospital. The PMHNP will work in coordination with SGMG Behavioral Health and Oakview outpatient counseling services to provide psychiatric follow-up services to patients with behavioral health issues. This position will collaborate with a psychiatrist along with functioning as the main liaison with the medical and administrative staff. The PMHNP will work in collaboration with the mental health and substance use staff to coordinate client care.
They must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age groups, according to specific chronological age, developmental age, and/or psycho-social maturity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited advanced practice registered Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Program Master’s degree in Nursing.
Required length of experience:
Two or more years of patient clinical experience in a behavioral health setting is preferred. Must have strong organizational skills and communication skills, with the general public, in person and on the telephone.
Required licensure, certification, and/or registry:
Current licensure by the Ohio State Board of Nursing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
Certificate to Prescribe from the State of Ohio.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
