In close collaboration with Medical Center leaders - the Administrator of Medical Center Staffing Operations is responsible for the governance, standardization, and coordination of all activities for the staffing office within UVA Health Medical Center. In concert with Nursing, Ambulatory, Ancillary Services and Service Line Leadership, the Administrator serves as a champion of staffing optimization and position management (which includes a full accounting of staffing needs to operate clinical operations in a safe, efficient manner), and labor-related reporting across the medical center — developing, monitoring, and improving the institutional standards of performance. The Administrator serves as a liaison for stakeholders across the medical center for all staffing optimization initiatives that cross multiple areas including but not limited to the Staffing Resource Office, International Nursing and the Clinical Intake Team.
- Oversee, plan, and manage staffing planning strategies, position management for all areas of the Medical Center Operations. Staffing is defined here as working with individual areas to optimize staffing mixes to meet clinical needs.
- Partners with UVA HR Chief of UVA Health Human Resources and the Talent Acquisition Team to share staffing resource needs and projections for staffing needs by service area.
- Drive the continuous improvement of staffing models, methodologies, and practices to ensure these are commensurate with organizational needs, financial goals/metrics, and align with best practices.
- Optimize the staffing capability; that include understanding precise needs for clinical staffing, forecasting, staffing requirements, turnover analysis, hiring plans, operational analysis, business, and financial analysis in support of short term and long-term workforce planning.
- Oversee labor reporting and workforce metrics aligned with the Medical Center staffing strategy and long-term operational/financial goals
- Partner and collaborate with leaders and peers to ensure that the creation of staffing plans, models, and projections to address/meet strategic objectives.
- Identify and resolve workforce operational performance gaps and obstacles; implement changes and improvements
- Ensure effective and efficient allocation of staff resources (supply) to workload and initiatives (demand).
- Ensure effective communication of staffing related processes/ policies/procedures throughout the organization.
- Oversee all external contract labor operations, metrics, and manage to achieve desired goals.
- Understand and follow legal, governmental, and appropriate institutional policies that impact implementation of staffing initiatives.
- Solve difficult problems and communicate to key stakeholders in a collaborative, creative and thoughtful manner.
- Track healthcare industry best practices for workforce optimization and staffing models as appropriate, advocate for implementation of those practices.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $125,340.80 - $200,553.60 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree in healthcare-related field preferred.
Experience: 5 years progressive experience in health care management
Licensure: None required.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
