Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Telemetry Technician-Clerical Coordinator (TT/CC) is responsible for constantly monitoring electrocardiogram and SPO2 measurements for designated patients and informing the RN of changes. The Centralized Telemetry Command (Tele-Command) serves as the nerve center for continuous patient monitoring and provides a crucial layer of safety and care for those in critical and non-critical conditions at Hoag. Tele-Command operates around the clock, staffed with a team of highly trained Telemetry Technicians and nurses who monitor patient data from various departments, including intensive care units, step-down units, emergency rooms, and medical-surgical floors.
Other duties may include:
- Maintains and checks monitoring equipment daily.
- Works as a part of the patient care team to maintain organization within the clinical station.
- Answer telephones and patient call lights promptly.
- Assist patients, hospital visitors, and members of the healthcare team.
- Performs some clerical functions including organizing the clinical station, tracking equipment inventory, as well as monitoring electronic orders.
- Notifies the Charge Nurse of new admits and maintains the census record.
- Participates in Swap Shifts to ensure skill competency.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of basic arrhythmia course (ECG certification) and ECG test required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent experience as a Telemetry/Monitor Technician - Clerical Coordinator in an acute healthcare environment preferred.
- Completion of a Clerical Coordinator course including medical terminology preferred.
