The Operations & Maintenance Technician IV (O&M Tech IV) will be part of the Valley Team that reports to the Joseph Jensen Water Treatment Plant located in Granada Hills. This team specializes moving untreated and treated water to/from treatment plants and service connections in MWD’s service area which include both on MWD properties and on public streets. Our O&M Techs will support the maintenance and operations of the pipelines and associated structures.
Operations activities involve flow changes, pressure adjustments, and other member agency (customer) request. Maintenance activities typically involve valve maintenance, but will also include work on all related mechanical equipment within the teams jurisdiction. This team covers the areas of Castaic south to Venice Blvd in Culver City, and east to Eagle Rock and includes the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys, and parts of Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Occasionally, you maybe required to report to a different location, shift work to support projects, being on stand-by or on-call, and working extended hours.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High school diploma or a Certificate of High School equivalency in addition to a minimum of 6 years in a mechanical maintenance position at a water agency or in a conveyance and distribution facility such as a pump plant, treatment plant, and hydroelectric facility or similar environment. OR
High school diploma or a Certificate of High School equivalency in addition to the attainment of journey level skills through a recognized mechanical trade training program.
Journey level experience as demonstrated by practical application of general and advanced techniques and practices specific to the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems at a water agency or in a conveyance and distribution facility such as a treatment plant, pump plant, and/or power generation systems, and related apparatus.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.

Expectations of Hours of Service, Emergency and Stand-by Service:
Employees in this position may be required to work off-shift hours and/or stand-by service to address operational needs and emergencies as required. Pump plant personnel assigned stand-by are required to respond within 15 minutes. May be required to work extended periods away from the normal reporting location.
