Responsibilities
The Pharmacy Technician completes a variety of department tasks and services and is responsible for the daily operations of the Pharmacy under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy or the pharmacist on duty during the shift.
Picks up drug orders at the nursing station(s) and prepares medications under supervision of pharmacist.
Delivers the appropriate quantities of the medication to the correct patient area(s).
Assists with accurate billing and crediting of patient medications.
Maintains drugs in the Pharmacy according to the Drug Formulary and per policy, including ordering, receiving, storage, and filling out all necessary paperwork.
Monitors doses administered according to Medication Administration Record on the narcotics sign-out record. Maintains all forms and reports necessary for the control of narcotics and other controlled substances.
Fills medication boxes with an appropriate supply as per policy utilizing a unit dose system.
Replaces stock items on a routine basis according to policy.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED equivalent
State registration or eligible of required
Current State Board of Pharmacy Registration Certificate as a Pharmacy Technician required by the State
Preferred Experience
One to two year's experience as Pharmacy Technician
