Stratford Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dynamic High School Business Teacher who will be responsible for instructing students in various business-related subjects. The ideal candidate should have the ability to build strong relationships with students, create engaging lesson plans for all types of learners, and have a classroom committed to promoting a culture of respect, equity, and inclusivity. Teaching assignments may include courses such as, but not limited to Personal Finance, Introduction to Business, Business Law, AP Macroeconomics, and Accounting, as well as career skills and competencies.
Job Requirements:
Plans data-driven instruction, organizes, and teaches, competency-based CTE programs in business
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of established district curriculum goals, and establishes and communicates clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units, and projects.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs of capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Strives by instruction and action to implement the district’s philosophy of education, instructional goals and objectives, and performance expectations.
Assesses the accomplishments of students regularly; provides progress reports as required, and communicates with parents as deemed necessary.
Diagnoses the learning challenges of students regularly, seeking the assistance of school and/or district specialists as required.
Attend established traditional school-sponsored activities (e.g. Back to School Night, Open House, programs, activities) agreed upon by the building administrator and the faculty consistent with the teachers’ contract.
Demonstrates technologically updated & relevant proficiency in the use of computers, touch screens, windows operating systems, accounting software, presentation software, etc.
Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to articulate and implement the Common Core State Standards and Business Education State Standards
Appropriate content/ program area educator teaching certification (010 Business, 7-12) from the Connecticut State Department of Education.
Experience teaching AP Macroeconomics preferred
Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license and/or industry-related experience preferred
