Prepare sketches and drawings of proposed irrigation installations and maintenance repairs.
Estimate time and material costs for the purposes of determining costs and schedules for specific jobs.
Install, repair, inspect and maintain irrigation and water lines (from both potable/fresh and non-potable/reclaimed water sources), valves, bibs, clocks, automatic sprinkler controls and heads, protections, pressure regulators, pumps and controllers according to blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions.
Perform preventive maintenance for irrigation systems, testing and reviewing system functioning to assure proper and water-efficient operations including established schedules and weather conditions.
Locate and repair underground low voltage electric cables, wires conduits, pipes and valves as needed.
Measure, cut, thread, join (e.g., soldering, blazing, priming/cementing PVC) and install pipes, tubing and a variety of irrigation system fixtures.
Utilize and safely operate appropriate grounds maintenance and irrigation equipment and tools such as tractors, trenchers, mowers, rototillers, soil aerators, skip loader, dump truck, electrical testing meters, soil chemical testing instruments, and chain saws to install and maintain irrigation systems and landscape areas including the excavation and filling of trenches, cutting trees and branches, removing and placing soil and other volume materials.
Prepare written materials (e.g. service/repair records, requisitions, work orders and completion reports, tec.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written support of project proposals and work, and/or conveying information.
Maintain adequate in-house inventory of equipment and supplies utilized in sprinkler and other irrigation repair.
Perform general grounds maintenance work including mowing, rototilling, aerating, weeding, raking, planting, fertilizing, applying pesticides and herbicides, trash pickup and general grounds cleanup, cleaning storm drains and rain gutters, and other grounds maintenance activities as required and directed.
