Who are we looking for?
Our Northeast region has an exciting opportunity for someone to step into the role of Regional Project Management Office (PMO) Lead! As PMO Lead, you will be responsible for the overall leadership of a strong project management practice across the region. You will act as the voice and leader for the project management practice (Project Directors and Project Managers) and ensure that the business groups within the region have the capability to effectively manage the delivery for all types of projects to meet successful outcomes for both the client and GHD.
This is a part-time role and will likely require 25% effort. Therefore, the PMO Lead may have other responsibilities such as acting as a Project Director. This role can be fulfilled from any office within the Region but may require travel to various regional offices as necessary to be effective.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Accountable for the effective operation of the regional PMO in alignment with the NA PMO
- Ensure there is effective project management leadership in place within each business group
- Effective implementation of a PM career path that includes career development and competency/skills training for all levels of PMs and PDs
- Implementation of best practices and support tools, systems and employees that can effectively execute projects at varying levels of complexity and size as required by region’s business groups
- Working with the North American (NA) PMO Lead, implement an effective and well understood process that will provide assurance that the right PMs and PDs are in place to support the projects delivered within each business group
- In conjunction with the NA PMO Lead, the NA Major Project Lead(s), the NA Project Controls Lead and the Northeast Major Project Delivery Group Lead (MPDGL), establish an effective project delivery model for large/major complex projects, especially within the design build and alternative delivery space, including the establishing of large project deliver groups within those regions that have these types of projects
- Provide support to strategic NA project and client pursuits if required
- Work effectively with corporate services groups to ensure appropriate support is provided for the improvements in the project management practice
What you will bring to the team:
- University Degree or College Diploma
- Minimum of 10 years of client management and project management experience within a consulting engineering firm
- Minimum of 5 years of experience of consulting engineering business management exposure in Finance, Marketing, Operations and Project Delivery Systems/Tools
- Senior project management leadership experience in a Consulting Engineering firm preferably with project delivery of environmental and engineering design in a variety of markets/sectors with a multitude of delivery execution models (e.g. Consulting assignments, Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build and EPCM projects)
- Understanding of Project Controls is a must and experience with portfolio analysis tools is a benefit.
- Knowledge of engineering industry practices in delivering design engineering packages, project performance benchmarking, progress measurement and earned value management concepts
- Strong understanding of project management competencies and skills required within the consulting engineering industry, and experience in developing and delivering training, mentoring and career development programs
