Job Description

The Research Specialist A will be responsible for maintenance and breeding of the lab’s mouse colony in the John Morgan vivarium and satellite colony, for performing various animal behavioral experiments, mouse surgeries, and electrophysiologic recordings in mice. Responsibilities also include maintaining lab inventory and order additional supplies and reagents as needed.

This position will be responsible for animal tissue harvest, preservation, staining, and imaging, in addition to performing various biochemical assays. Additional duties include lab record keeping and basic analysis of the experimental data collected. This position requires strong organizational and attention to detail skills that will enable them to document their work thoroughly, and present data in both informal settings with the PI and in weekly lab meetings.

Research Specialist B- In addition to above, the Research Assistant B will assist senior level researchers on various supervised research projects within the lab. The Research Specialist B will place orders for supplies, help maintain inventory and place lab equipment in their designated areas at the end of the day. They will gather data from experiments, complete data entry and analyze data in collaboration with Principal Investigator - with the intent of presenting research results in laboratory meetings.

The position is contingent upon funding.

Qualifications

• Research Specialist A Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree preferred in related field (Biology Neuroscience, or Biophysics)  and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

• Research Specialist B Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree preferred in related field (Biology, Neuroscience, or Biophysics) 1-3 years of related experience working in a laboratory or equivalent combination of education and experience
