The Finance Department is responsible for the management and oversight of the City's budget, purchasing, accounts receivable and payable, investments, business tax collection, audits, business and transient occupancy tax collections, cashiering functions, utility billing and accounting activities.
What We're Looking For The City of Beverly Hills is seeking an outstanding Accounting Technicianwith exceptional technical accounting skills to perform a variety of accounting duties for the Finance Department's Accounting Division. The Accounting Technician may participate in the data entry of invoices, refunds, and expense reports, in the preparation of accounting schedules, journal entries, and financial statements along with other reports. In addition to being detail oriented and possessing excellent customer service and communication skills, the ideal candidate should be innovative, forward-thinking, and looking for ways to improve processes, and increase efficiencies. This position reports directly to the Principal Accountant.

Examines, reconciles, balances and adjusts accounting records.
Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies, determining corrective entries involved in maintaining accounting controls.
Prepares a variety of State, Federal and Local statements, reports and tax returns from a variety of data and records.
Answers questions related to payroll and benefits and provides advice related to preparing accounting transactions.
Prepares and submits accounting information for input into computerized system, reconciles differences between accounting records and computerized records.
Coordinates accounting activities with other City departments, divisions and sections.
Routinely utilizes computerized spreadsheets (Excel) to efficiently perform major duties.
Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by courses in accounting and business practices and
Three (3) years of experience in the maintenance of financial, fiscal and related statistical records, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
