We are currently seeking a dedicated Library Media Specialist to join a public school in Jersey City, NJ, and contribute to the educational growth of students.

Position Overview: As a Library Media Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in promoting literacy, research skills, and a love for reading among elementary and middle school students. This part-time position, with roughly 25 hours per week, offers flexibility while allowing you to make a significant impact on students' academic journeys.

Type: Part-Time (Roughly 25 hours per week, elementary and middle school students)

This position is for the upcoming school year.

Qualifications:

• State certification as a Library Technician
• NJ State Teaching License
• Possession of (or willingness to obtain) up-to-date clearances
• Proof of individual professional liability insurance (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities May Include:

• Manage and maintain the school library, including cataloging, organizing, and updating materials.
• Assist students in finding and selecting books, research materials, and digital resources.
• Teach information literacy skills, including effective search strategies and critical evaluation of sources.
• Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum.
• Plan and host library programs and events to engage students in reading and learning.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in library and media services.
• Foster a safe and welcoming library environment for all students.
