About the Position: Capital Programs and Facilities Management (CPFM) is committed to planning, developing, and maintaining a safe, sustainable, and high-quality learning and working environment for the campus community. Facilities Management provides oversight of university resources and assets and is responsible for the development of the University’s facilities including land use planning, capital improvement, project development, construction, as well as facilities operations and maintenance including custodial services, landscape services, building trade services, mechanical and electrical, and recycling services. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Electric Shop team as the Lead Electrician. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness. Under the general supervision of the Building Trades Manager, or their designee, this position leads a small group or crew of skilled Electricians and semi-skilled assistants involved in the repair, maintenance, construction, and modifications of university facilities. Instructs others in safety rules and ensures that rules are observed and in accordance with established safety procedures. Maintains records and retrieves data related to work performed using manual and/or computerized record-keeping systems. Provides direction to staff regarding internal and external building components including design and installation of equipment and systems for new construction, modifications, preventive maintenance, service, maintenance, and repairs, including planning, coordination, needs assessment, reviews, monitoring work and inspections, as well as estimates, prioritize assignments, scheduling of work and projects, and conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable building safety codes and regulations. On specific projects, may coordinate the work of other skilled crafts workers. An employee best suited for this role is one who is defined by their dedication to the quality of their work, dependability, and reliability. This is a key position which facilitates caring for campus to support the University’s mission, vision, and values in higher education. This position will interact with a diverse group of individuals. The Lead Electrician works well in a team environment and understands the balance of sharing duties, taking ownership, and will take the initiative to complete tasks as needed.
