A fast-growing company in San Clemente is searching for an Assistant Project Manager/Drafter. The firm is a boutique business working with companies that have hundreds of locations nationwide. They supply warehouse racks, shelving, and miscellaneous material handling Items. For the retail showrooms, they also offer store fixtures and shelving, merchandise display materials, and specialized holders. Their services include space planning of the warehouse and showroom areas, allowing them to create the material list for a particular job.
The compensation is $24 to $28/hour, based on experience. Candidates interested in sales and additional incentive income can participate in client contact sales of the projects.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Project Manager/Drafter
The position primarily involves fulfilling the space planning aspects of meeting the client's needs. Warehouse and Showroom floor plans need to be created. The creation of floorplans involves taking into consideration building obstructions (columns, door locations, etc.). The drawings are then sent to the customer for comment/approval. Material take-offs are then created. With the material take-offs, supplier quotes need to be obtained which ultimately will lead to project budgets.
If the project is approved and the project requires a building permit from the city, drawings that are suitable for applying for a permit need to be created. Different cities have different permit application requirements. Investigation of the different requirements will be needed, and the drawings are to be completed that will meet the requirements of the city.
- At times, traveling out of town to different job sites may be required. This will be to supervise and assist with the assembly of bays of rack and to interface with the local store managers as necessary.
- Accurately measure and sketch existing buildings and then draw the building in CAD (Preferably in Auto-CAD).
- When not traveling the Assistant PM will be managing a small warehouse, moving and packaging heavy material.
Assistant Project Manager/Drafter Skills and Qualifications:
- AutoCAD & Floorplan design experience
- Ability to interpret customer hand sketches and telephone conversations and create floorplan drawings in AutoCAD.
- Be familiar with how to use general hand tools and power tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Effective communicator, some basic Spanish is preferred
- Engineering or Architectural degree is a PLUS!
- Some project management and drafting experience
- Autodesk Inventor knowledge and experience - Candidates with AutoCAD Inventor or 3D skills may be tasked with rendering drawings of products to help communicate with both suppliers and customers.
- QuickBooks proficiency for order processing
- The ability to drive a forklift is a plus
- Familiarity with the racking industry is a plus
Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $24.00 - $28.00 Per Year
