The role you’ll contribute: Manages the activities and personnel in the Education Department to provide for the in-service and continuing education needs of employees and the coordination of student group activities. Includes the coordination, preparation, and recordkeeping for all hospital education programs in compliance with accreditation requirements, state laws and regulations.

Performs the customary duties as Manager of Education providing education and training, in-services, orientation, and internship programs to hospital team member in a manner that encourages high quality patient care, a safe environment, and job satisfaction.
Assists as needed with coordination of programs and instructs and presents on multiple topics in relation to training needs. Develops instructional materials, evaluates commercially produced materials and cooperates with other health system departments and disciplines in utilization of these resources.
Establishes goals and objectives for program implementation and the Education Department. Goals and objectives are developed from annual needs survey, organization vision, meetings with Department Managers and Directors, education staff feedback, reviews of aggregate data, medical staff feedback, and regulatory requirements. Develops staff education programs to achieve identified goals and objectives.
Discusses and reviews daily activities with supervised employees to ensure direction of activities meet needs and determine if additional resources are required. Delegates assignments as appropriate to supervised team member. Manages activities of Clinical Educators in coordination with nursing and patient care department directors to meet department needs. Performs supervisory functions of personnel in Education Department including coaching, counseling, interviewing, and hiring.
Supervises the development of continuing education programs following the Florida State Boards of the respective discipline through the outlet determined by the individual campus (example: CE Broker). Assures all programs are reported to CE Broker as required by Florida Law.
Manages development and maintenance of competency reviews used to assess hospital staff, to include age-specific and performance competency formats in collaboration with Human Resources. Develops and implements annual house-wide education to meet regulatory requirements and to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Oversees maintenance of statistics of employees’ education completion utilizing electronic software.
Coordinates and oversees affiliation agreements with colleges, universities and other health education programs to ensure that all requirements for student clinical rotations are met. Coordinates/facilitates orientation of all students prior to clinical rotation.
Manages activities involving education recruiting efforts, especially for nursing and other clinical positions. Visits and presents programs to local high schools, health academies, and colleges within the area. Attends out of town events as needed. Participates in additional community events to support efforts of AdventHealth.
Coordinates in-service training sessions regarding new policies, procedures, standards, regulations, and changes in patient care techniques.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
· Bachelor of Science (BSN) OR Master of Science (MSN) degree
· Three-five years of educational experience including some clinical
· Current, valid Florida State of Nursing license as a registered professional nurse
· Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certification
· Advanced Life Support Provider Certification, per specialty
· Strong presentation skills and interpersonal skills
· Previous teaching experience in formal/informal settings
· Manager of Education is expected to be fully productive within one year of employment
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Power Point, Teams, and Excel
· Effective oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills
· Self-direction, creativity, initiative to develop educational programs
· Leadership ability and working knowledge of leadership principles and management skills
Education and experience preferred:
· Master of Science degree
· Management Experience
· Certification as Nursing Professional Development Educator
- Certification in clinical or educator specialty
