Physician Assistant Position Summary

The primary function of a Physician Assistant is to be accountable and responsible for the following functions under the direction of the designated Physician that is responsible for patient care: the assessment, diagnoses, treatment and evaluation of the patient with acute and/or chronic illness; initiating consultations for the responsible physician, however, physician will see the patient and complete the evaluation and recommendations; communicating directly to the designated Physician concerning patients daily. The functions of the PA will be as accordance with the written delegation agreement provided by the State's Board of Physicians.

Physician Assistant Position Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Major: BA or BS, Graduate of an accredited AMA Physician Assistant program.
• PA-C in the State of Maryland and/or Delaware as required by law

Experience

• Three (3) to five (5) years experience practicing in a hospital.

Physician Assistant Schedule

• May be assigned to day, evening, or night shifts or a combination per departmental policy.
• Scheduled off at least three holidays per year.
• Required to work weekends per unit need.
• Expected to work past shift end on occasion.
