VCA Animal Specialty & Emergency Center is a multi-specialty referral and emergency services veterinary hospital serving referring veterinarians and pet owners throughout Southern California. We have board certified specialists in cardiology, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, radiology and surgery. ASEC’s mission is to provide high quality, compassionate care to its patients and exceptional service to referring veterinarians and pet owners.
The patient transporter/runner plays a vital role within the hospital. Along with transporting pets throughout the hospital, there are many other responsibilities along with some administrative duties that come with the position as well.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Transporting pets to and from their owners during their appointments.
- Triaging patients if a critical emergency presents itself and rush to the ICU if need be.
- Act as the initial liaison between pet parents and doctors/techs.
- Keeping track of office supplies and hospital forms and providing the Client Service Manager with an order list.
- Packaging laboratory samples for shipping.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in medical, dental or veterinary hospital preferred
- Exceptional verbal communication skills required
- Able to multi-task in fast paced environment and can manage under pressure
- Computer savvy
Additional Info:
- This position involves working at least 1 weekend day
- We utilize 4 10-hr shifts for this position
Benefits:
VCA Animal Hospitals offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including Medical/Dental/Vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, pet care discounts, paid vacation, holidays and sick days, health and well-being programs that provide resources and training. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The pay range for this position is $18 to $22 per hour.
