Job Abstract

The holder of this position will contribute to the research and educational mission of the Harvard Center for Hellenic Studies by shaping and managing the resources collection of the CHS library, which includes 75,000 print volumes and an array of digital resources. The library supports advanced research in all aspects of Ancient Hellenic Civilization and in many aspects of Classical Studies generally. The position thus requires a broad knowledge of these fields as well as competence in the field of academic librarianship.

Completed PhD in Classics; a concentration in Greek Studies is preferred.
At least two years professional experience in teaching Classics or working in an academic library.

Experience in digital library projects and/or collection development. ALA accredited master’s degree in library science/information science; a concentration in academic librarianship is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and collegially with others, including post-doctoral scholars, graduate students, undergraduate students, and other CHS and Harvard staff members.
