The Fullerton Public Library is a historic yet modern community beacon offering resources and services to our diverse and involved community. From books to digital materials, we offer something for everyone. We provide comfortable spaces for reading and studying, and helpful services such as reference assistance, making it a welcoming environment for learning and socializing. We actively promote community engagement and personal enrichment through events like author talks, workshops, cultural and educational programs, and more. The Fullerton Public Library plays a vital role in the city of Fullerton by supplying access to information, encouraging literacy and lifelong learning, and serving as a cultural and social hub for residents of all ages.
THIS IS AN AT-WILL/TEMPORARY/NON-BENEFITED POSITION
10-20 HOURS PER WEEK
The ideal candidate will have great customer service skills and can provide accurate, prompt, and courteous assistance to a diverse community. Applicants should have a strong grasp of computers, the internet, and emerging technologies, and be able to share that knowledge with patrons in a professional manner.
Under general supervision performs a wide variety of technical, paraprofessional, and other duties related to library functions; assists the public with the use of library equipment, facilities, materials, and services and performs related work as required.
Employment Guidelines
Education/Experience:
Graduation from high school
and
Two years of experience at the Library Clerical Assistant level or receipt of a Library Technical Certificate from an accredited community college.
Special Requirements Include:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to accommodate City needs.
- Must type accurately at a speed that will enable successful job performance.
Prior experience volunteering or working in a public library and/or coordinating volunteers or other staff is preferred, but not required.

Appointment:
All new hires will be fingerprinted. Fingerprints are verified with the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
