Job Summary
RESPONSIBILITES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Under the direction of the principal or site administrator, provide specialized academic instruction to students with Individualized Education Plans (IEP's) through an inclusive collaborative teaching model. The Education Specialist Teacher (EST) is responsible for ensuring student IEP’s are implemented with fidelity regarding the provision of specialized academic instruction minutes, data collection, student accommodations, support services, and assessments. The EST is responsible for case management of students with IEP's including implementation, interpretation and reporting of academic assessments in preparation for IEP’s. Additionally, the EST will collaborate with the teachers and para-educators in the delivery of services, progress reporting. The EST will provide support and guidance in the data collection and IEP goal and objective tracking.
The EST will provide instruction through a learning center model focused on the delivery of specialized academic instruction across educational settings. The learning center model is multi-modal and may include: direct instruction, co-teaching and pull-out to the learning center. Responsibilities include: development of lesson plans for direct instruction, encouraging student progress through inclusive learning environments; delivering meaningful and differentiated instructional content aligned to the Common Core State Standards; supporting a classroom culture conducive to positive relationships; and engaging parents and families through caring and consistent communication. The EST, along with the entire LACOE learning community, will focus on developing a culture of care in collaboration with partner agencies, parents and stakeholders.
Requirements / Qualifications

•Must hold a valid California teaching credential. Applicants must hold the following credentials:
o Must hold a valid CA Education Specialist Mild/Moderate
o In addition to the Mild/Moderate, a valid CA Education Specialist Moderate/Severe is preferred
• In addition, candidates must hold a CLAD (Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development)
