POSITION OVERVIEW
Gateway Public Schools seeks an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Associate Director of Development with a commitment to public education, students and families, and the San Francisco community, and proven track record of fundraising through events and individual donor relationships. This is a leadership position within the development team, and responsible for event fundraising that equals 20% of Gateway’s $2.5M annual goal and a portfolio of mid-range individual donors.
This is a full-time, exempt, in-person position (remote Wednesdays after onboarding). Gateway’s offices are located on Gateway High’s campus in Western Addition/Fillmore. The development team’s office is on the second floor of the building. The building has stairs, a ramp, and elevator to access the second floor. The office is close to several MUNI lines, and Gateway offers onsite parking for $50/school year.
GPS offers an excellent benefits package, including medical, dental and vision insurance (employee premiums covered and additional stipends for dependents), life insurance, 6 weeks paid vacation, 10 sick days, and 14 paid holidays, professional development budget, a retirement savings plan with employer match, and, if qualified, student loan repayment support.

* At least 3 years of experience in individual donor cultivation/stewardship
* At least 2 years of experience in direct supervision or management role required
* The ideal candidate can start the role with the expertise and experience necessary for at least 75% of the job description, and we anticipate providing coaching and professional development to grow in capacity over time
* A commitment to public education and alignment with Gateway’s mission and values, as well as creating an anti-racist community for students and families
* Responsible self-starter, able to work independently and with curiosity
* Experience using databases, preferably Salesforce
* Exceptional time-management and organizational skills, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
* Excellent written communication skills, and comfort with public speaking
* Technical savvy and curious with a variety of office technologies (e.g., Google Suite, Zoom)
* Ability to foster and maintain working relationships built on mutual trust and respect with parents, students, trustees, donors, alumni, and staff
* Demonstrated ability and willingness to continuously acquire new competencies and accept new challenges
