The ideal candidate possesses superior analytical strength, attention to detail, open communication and the ability to work autonomously.
As a leader of leaders, the most critical responsibility of the Regional Logistics Manager is the successful development and coaching of the leaders under you. An effective Regional Logistics Manager develops leaders that know how to make the right decisions, improve organizational culture and take responsibility for his or her mistakes; while encouraging others to learn from them. You will evangelize Accountability and emphasize the importance of this responsibility in creating a strong culture of accountability throughout the entire organization.
As a people manager, the Regional Logistics Manager assists in the hiring, on-boarding, development and performance management of staff. They work independently to manage the day-to-day operations of a large team/multiple departments. They help their team grow by encouraging them to contribute to discussions, refining their ideas, and encouraging independent decision-making. the Regional Logistics Manager thoughtfully assigns the work that develops and broadens the skills of those under them. The Regional Logistics Manager delivers training curriculum for their teams or push to develop training where none exists. The Regional Logistics Manager will use a data driven approach and strong analytic skills to put the right people in positions that will enhance success (Aces in their places), metrics and solutions to drive positive change.
As the face of the organization, the Logistics Regional Manager partners with operational leaders and a wide array of Amazon stakeholders to manage team communication, metrics, and our calendar of significant milestones. The role demands a strong sense of urgency and the ability to make sound judgement. As a strategist and implementer, the Logistics Regional Manager ensures streamlined activities within the organization that guarantee success. The Logistics Regional Manager represents their team autonomously and requires minimal guidance from their management.
As a proven tactician, the Regional Logistics Manager uses expertise and high judgment to establish the right team structure to respond to customer needs and short-term business goals. They ensure their teams are operating efficiently, meeting SLAs, and delivering high quality results. The Regional Logistics Manager creates plans, communicates requirements, negotiates priorities, and clarifies what success looks like across all levels.
As a strategist, the Regional Logistics Manager independently sets or contributes to setting the vision and direction of the organization while ensuring optimization of the processes, standards, and functions within their space. They use expertise and high judgment to design the right team structures and mechanisms to meet long-term business goals, and can establish goals in areas where strategy may not yet be defined.
As a business owner, the Regional Logistics Manager guarantees the functions under them are running smoothly and meet the expectations of our customers on a daily, monthly and yearly basis. They do not allow deliverables to be de-scoped to a less than acceptable result. The Regional Logistics Manager develops performance goals and objectives that achieve or exceed expectations and regularly audit team performance to prevent defects from reaching the customer.
As a process improver, the Regional Logistics Manager dedicates time toward improving quality and efforts that reduce overhead (e.g., endemic root cause resolution, refactoring, automation, etc.). They can recognize when its necessary to alter team structure to address emerging priorities and understand how to allocate resources that reduce time spent on tasks (e.g., Tools, Analytics, etc.). The Regional Logistics Manager constantly looks ahead to tackle ambiguous problems and proactively mitigates risks before they become roadblocks. They demonstrate good judgment in how and when to escalate without damaging relationships. When confronted with discordant views, the Regional Logistics Manager is able to find the best way forward and influence others to follow that path (build consensus).
Key job responsibilities
Build and maintain strong partnerships with customers, stakeholders and support teams such as HR, Finance, Safety, Security, etc
Be the senior point of contact for communication and escalation for internal logistics team matters across the region
Implement new processes as required in order to improve efficiency and to support growth in new product and services
Be the primary facilitator of team coordination and cohesion and effectively manage relationships at all levels, including Senior Leadership
Build a culture which promotes a "safety first" mentality for Logistics operations
Manage and drive staffing plans, schedules, quality initiatives, performance and process change initiatives
Be a strong supporter of improvement initiatives and ensure new opportunities are distributed fairly amongst the team
Hold regularly scheduled 1:1s with a focus on personal and team growth and development
Develop proficiency in Amazon language and skill functionality to ensure the capability of spreading and teaching the Amazon culture
Maintain a high quality of individual standard-work and drive accountability and coaching when quality falls short
Ensure the bar is being raised with every new hire

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of progressive experience in operations management, logistics, or supply chain management. Experience managing multiple locations or a regional portfolio is highly desirable
Strong background in process improvement, workflow optimization, and implementing operational best practices
Proven track record of managing budgets, KPIs, and reporting for multi-site/multi-team operations.
Experience collecting data and reporting against key performance metrics
Experienced in inventory control and/or Inventory Management Systems (IMS/WMS)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent leadership and people management skills to coordinate cross-functional teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and address operational issues
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with upper management and front-line teams
Project management skills to lead continuous improvement initiatives
Knowledge of regulatory compliance, workplace safety, and risk management practices
Project management certification (PMP, Lean, Six Sigma) is often preferred
Industry-specific certifications (e.g. logistics, transportation, distribution) can be beneficial.
